Wardabout with Hounslow Highways – Tuesday 5 April 2016 at 11.00 am to 12.15 pm

A productive little mooch around the neighbourhood north of Great West Road between Wood Lane and Syon Lane.

160405 Wardabout

Attending: Satbir and Ali from Hounslow Highways; Joyce from Hounslow Council Contracts Team; Gerry S from Syon Park Gardens; Ian T from Wyke Close; Basil M from Syon Lane; OSG Ward Councillors Tony Louki and Sheila OReilly

Following the Wardabout, Hounslow Highways have undertaken to:

  • Provide a list of actions raised within 3 working days
  • Send an updated list of full actions and outcomes of any investigations within 28 days.

These are what I noted, not all are the responsibility of Hounslow Highways, some are Transport for London which is accountable for Great West Road; matters of flytipping on private land are the locus of Hounslow Council’s Enforcement Service:

Require litter bin near entrance to 120 Wood Lane – heavy footfall to schools and the Osterley Sports Centre and Athletics Track;

Seek solution to westbound vehicle access to Syon Park Gardens from Great West Road;

Deep clean by refuges at junction of Wood Lane and Great West Road;

South Western Rail Franchise: Good meeting, get your responses in, pronto

Attendance and participation at last night’s meeting where we learnt more about the way our local train service works and how important it is to different users was a pleasure to be a part of.

Train at Syon Lane

Local resident, Michael Peacock, at very short notice was put on the spot to present but was asked to because of his in depth knowledge of the workings of our local railway and its context within the national network.

Many participants shared their views and also offered a range of proposals for the Department of Transport’s stakeholder consultation for the South Western Rail Franchise.  Notes from the meeting can be found here and should  be useful when preparing a response to the DfT before the 9 February 2016 deadline.

A copy of the consultation document can be found here and ways of responding to it here.

You wait for one consultation then two turn up at the same time.

Last week, the Department of Transport and Transport for London published another document, A new approach to rail passenger services in London and the South East, this describes a longer than recent ambition to incorporate suburban rail services (including ours) into the London Overground network.  This is also worth responding to (in a similar way to the SWRF) and can be downloaded from here, the closing date for this one is 18 March 2016.

Happy to recieve copies of your responses.

Whether it’s the number of departures per hour, length of trains, state and safe use of the stations, best price ticketing, there is room to make comment during the franchise consultation running until 9 February 2016.

A copy of the Rail Executive’s Stakeholder Consultation for the South Western Rail Franchise can be found here. Doable on a journey to and back from Waterloo, particularly the parts between pages 27 and 47. Continue reading

White Lodge Club Site: Planning Committee on Thursday 3.12.2015

To be held in the Lampton Park Conference Centre, Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow, Middlesex, TW3 4DN at 7.30 pm – a meeting to be held in public but not a public meeting.

The ambition of the Nishkam Free School and its backers to locate on this sports ground may be settled by the 15 members of Hounslow’s Planning Committee later this week.

This follows what appears to have been a few years of assurances, interventions, submissions, challenges and generally civilized discussion in the neighbourhoods of Osterley and North Isleworth and beyond. Even Eric Pickles and the Earl of Jersey’s firm got in on the action.

Whatever the outcome, it has always been about making residents aware of what’s happening and improving the flow of dialogue and documents locally in Osterley & Spring Grove Ward. Continue reading

H28 Bus Route Changes: Meeting on Wednesday 9 December at 11.30 am

Transport for London is consulting on proposals to stop running the H28 in parts of Osterley and Isleworth.  It would mean no direct bus from these neighbourhoods to West Middlesex Hospital and other parts of the town.

Proposed new route for the H28 which will see the removal of a service to West Middlesex Hospital operating since 1995

TfL are running their consultation until 18 December 2015 and have delivered this consultation document to households in the area, they are also running an online survey which can be accessed here.

To offer residents an opportunity to find out more and complete their responses to this consultation, I have arranged a meeting from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm on Wednesday 9 December 2015, at space kindly provided by Thistleworth Tennis Club, 129A Ridgeway Road North, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 5LX.

Currently, the H28 stops very nearby.

TfL staff will be there to answer questions and carry paper copies of the survey for residents to complete.

Tea and coffee will be available too, courtesy of Thistleworth.

All are welcome.
