About me

WTC TL 01 editI was first elected as a councillor for the Osterley and Spring Grove Ward at the 2014 Hounslow Council elections, reelected in 2018; previously stood here in 2006 with nowhere near enough votes to make it. Prior, I was elected a councillor for Isleworth North Ward in 1990 and 1994. I have lived in Isleworth since the mid 1980s: Linkfield, Parkwood and currently on London Road; now for more than half my life.

In May 2018, after four years of being the sole Labour ward councillor, I was pleased to have been joined by Unsa Chaudri and Richard Eason, elected with me following a well supported local campaign and recognition of the work I had done here.

In May 2019, at the Council Annual General Meeting, I was given the honour of being made the 55th Mayor of the London Borough of Hounslow, a largely ceremonial role. The prevailing health emergency has meant that my term of office has now been extended to May 2021.

Although the London Borough of Hounslow has been a constant since 1964, many of its functions and responsibilities, through legislation and austerity cuts in government funding, have either changed or disappeared. This has happened at a time when, through a shinier spotlight on its work, there seems to be a public expectation to deliver at least the same services if not more. It is pretty much not the same as my first time, as one gets on nothing seems to be but one adapts and tries to manage the change.

Am always willing to learn what I can about the needs of Osterley and Spring Grove and to be a link to the rest of the council and the services it is responsible for. I continue to support and try to represent individuals, neighbourhoods, residents’ groups and service user groups. I am also one of 60 councillors across Hounslow from Chiswick to Bedfont and am expected to and do play my full part in the affairs of the borough as a whole.

To do those two things as well and as openly as I can, I try to regularly update this website with news and updates on issues affecting Osterley and Spring Grove whether current, developing or historic. This may be via full written up items or through a Twitter account, also embedded on the front page of this site.

I have however been a member of the Labour Party since the late 1970s and it would be very difficult for me not to post party political items as and when, particularly in the run up to elections.

I can be contacted in a number of ways, telephone, e mail or by post, details can be found by clicking here: Other information about my council responsibilities and meetings attendance.

(Subject to the current health emergency) the three ward councillors hold regular advice surgeries:

First Saturday of the month from 11.00 to 12.00 at Osterley Library, St Mary’s Crescent, Isleworth Middlesex, TW7 4NB

Second Wednesday of the month from 18.30 to 19.30 (term time only) at Isleworth & Syon School, in the Maths Hut, to the left of the vehicle “in” gate, Ridgeway Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 5JL

Third Saturday of the month from 11.00 to 12.00 at Osterley Library, St Mary’s Crescent, Isleworth Middlesex, TW7 4NB

My council email is: tony.louki@hounslow.gov.uk

I very much appreciate the assistance, support and advice received from Osterley and Spring Grove Ward resident David Pavett who is responsible for getting this going and helps place my posts on this website.  Without whom it would still just be another returning idea in my small brain and a long outstanding item on my to do list.
