Friends of Thornbury Park Meeting: Tuesday 12 December 2017

There will be a meeting of the Friends of Thornbury Park at 7.00 pm to 8.15 pm on Tuesday 12 December 2017

in The MusicRoom, Spring Grove House, West Thames College, London Road, Isleworth, TW7  4HS

Following the successful bid and award of £80,000 for improvements, we now have proposals for works for parks contractor Carillion to reduce some  shrub areas, clear dead trees and also proposals for volunteer days in early 2018.  plans for the works can be found here, here and here and description of the works here.

Another idea discussed previously, is for the planting of a new linear orchard supported by the Mayor for London, Trees for Cities, Hounslow Council and the Heathrow Community Fund.  Trees for Cities will attend this meeting to describe the proposal and how it would work.

We will also be examining the long awaited ideas for playground improvements.

It is also a pleasure to announce that after two years of banging on about it, works took place this week to clear the privately owned site of the former Harvard Hill Tennis Club, some pictures of this task can be seen here.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you on Tuesday evening.

Do that to me one Moore time: New planning application for 31 flats and retail

An earlier planning application submitted by Network Homes to Hounslow Council in March 2016 was quietly withdrawn that November with nothing doing until another, intrinsically the same, appeared late August 2017.

This new application carries the reference P/2017/3612 and a look at the Hounslow Council planning pages shows pretty much the same accompanying documents with little updating which I have raised with the planning team.

What is not clear from the application is whether there is still a proposal to incorporate the site of 1A St Johns Road as the handwritten form just states “3-5 St Johns Road”.

Neighbours have been sent letters offering the opportunity to make their written comments.

More on Moore’s: planning application now made

Following the exhibition of development proposals for the Moore’s Cycles and next door site last month and reported here: https://osterleyspringgrove.org/2016/03/05/moores-no-more/ , an application to build 34 flats over six floors has now been submitted to Hounslow Council by Network Housing Group.

Should it be functioning, there is a good range of documents to be found on the council’s planning website via http://www.hounslow.gov.uk under case number 00981/AI/P1. A few of these can also be accessed by clicking on the links below:

Letters seeking comment have so far been sent to 505 neighbouring addresses and comments are sought by 20 April 2016.

The St Johns Residents Association has advised that this features on the agenda for its meeting on Monday 11 April 2016  at St Johns Centre, 80 St Johns Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 6RU from 8.00 pm.

As a member of Hounslow Council’s planning committee, I am happy to receive residents’ responses but do not usually comment on these matters prior to a formal decision being made should they, at some point, appear on a future meeting agenda.

St Johns Road, Isleworth hotel development

Coomb House already has planning permission for a 59 room budget hotel

Currently an office block next to Network Rail’s graffiti bridge, Coomb House, 7 St Johns Road, Isleworth was awarded planning permission for a 59 room budget hotel on 30 May 2014, see details here and here.

Kentish Town based Architects Network Ltd, have been engaged to draw up new plans for the site and increase the number of rooms to 90, a building extension, public facilities as well as other proposals.

A new planning application is yet to be submitted to Hounslow Council but the design team have invited neighbours to a pre planning consultation to explain details of the scheme, to talk through proposed plans and layouts prior to a new planning application.

The event takes place tomorrow, Thursday 17 March 2016 from 5.00 pm to 7.30 pm at Coomb House, 7 St Johns Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 6NH

Development proposal consultation for Moore’s Cycles, St Johns Road

Thursday 10 March 2016 from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm at St John the Baptist Church, St Johns Road, Isleworth

Network Housing Group will be holding a public exhibition at St John the Baptist Church, St Johns Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 6NY on a drop in basis between 3.00 pm and 7.00 pm on 10 March 2016.

They will be displaying images of proposals to provide 36 new homes within a part 3, part 5 storey building comprising of a mix of affordable and private sale residential units, as well on site car parking and cycle parking. A copy of the flyer for this event can be found here.

The flyer states that, “The site currently comprises vacant commercial buildings” but residents will be familiar with its still open and long term operation as local family firm, Moore’s Cycles.

Network Housing Group advise that it hopes to submit a planning application by 18 March 2016.
