White Lodge Club Site: Planning Committee on Thursday 3.12.2015

To be held in the Lampton Park Conference Centre, Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow, Middlesex, TW3 4DN at 7.30 pm – a meeting to be held in public but not a public meeting.

The ambition of the Nishkam Free School and its backers to locate on this sports ground may be settled by the 15 members of Hounslow’s Planning Committee later this week.

This follows what appears to have been a few years of assurances, interventions, submissions, challenges and generally civilized discussion in the neighbourhoods of Osterley and North Isleworth and beyond. Even Eric Pickles and the Earl of Jersey’s firm got in on the action.

Whatever the outcome, it has always been about making residents aware of what’s happening and improving the flow of dialogue and documents locally in Osterley & Spring Grove Ward. Continue reading

Thornbury Park: More friends than you may have thought

Another decent turnout in The Music Room, Spring Grove House courtesy of the good people at West Thames College last Wednesday 4 November 2015.  This time for people to share thoughts and experiences of Thornbury Park and to explore the potential of setting up a friends group for the place.

There were quite a few justified grumbles about the way the park is maintained and managed, litter, graffiti, drinking, motorbike riding, drugs activity as well as lack of other facilities and no organised activities and sports.

But at the same time almost all present had good to say about the place, an oasis of green in a growing town with albeit limited and semi neglected play and sports facilities, a good place to walk with or without a dog.

The most encouraging aspect of the evening was the good and practical ideas offered by residents present, a wish to move forward but not ignoring the present issues. Each was given an opportunity to write three things they like, three don’t likes and three ways they would improve Thornbury Park.  A summary of the points can be found here and a full list containing all comments made is here.

Also heartening is a list so far of 11 residents offering their time and skills to form a friends group as is the support, offered and implied, by the St Johns Residents Association, Hounslow Council’s Community Partnerships Unit and Hounslow Central Ward councillors, two of whom, Ajmer and Pritam Grewal were in attendance too.  The note taking of Christine Diwell from the Isleworth Society was much appreciated and these (including a discussion on Isleworth Station, the same night) can be found here.

What’s next then?  A report of the meeting will be shared with Hounslow Council, Carillion and the Police and feedback and their comments sought.  Residents who signed up their services will be contacted over the next couple of weeks with a view to meet, discuss and plan.

It would also be good to meet, even at this time of the year, for an hour’s walk in Thornbury Park at 10.00 a.m on Saturday 21 November 2015.  Rendezvous by the playground near the London Road entrance.

Great interest in London Road: find out at Thursday’s Isleworth and Brentford Area Forum

Was very pleased to arrange and run a meeting of forty residents of Osterley and Spring Grove Ward and other folk with an interest in London Road last Wednesday 30.9.2015.  The setting was the splendid Music Room of Spring Grove House made available courtesy of West Thames College.

There were five discussion groups exploring a number of issues ripe for resolution and worthy of further work, not least Isleworth Station.  A summary of the discussions can be found here and its content will start to contribute to and  inform further work of the London Road Interest Group, more about this below.

IBAF at Spring Grove House – Thursday 8 October 2015 at 7.30 pm

The London Road Improvement Group is a feature of the Isleworth and Brentford Area Forum Action Plan, a range of projects and ideas championed by each of the 12 councillors from the four wards making up the IBAF; a copy of the action plan can be seen here.

Progress on the action plan will be the only item on the IBAF agenda which can be seen here http://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=576&MId=9200&Ver=4 .

All readers are welcome to attend, please say hello if you do.

Should you be unable to attend and wish to comment on any aspect of the London Road Interest Group, please write to tony.louki@hounslow.gov.uk.

Syon Park Gardens: Five updates

150920 S P Gdns sign

Following an inspection with Hounslow Highways’ Network Manager, earlier this month and pursuit of outstanding matters previously raised with Hounslow Council’s Traffic Team, I am able to offer some updates that may be of interest to residents of Syon Park Gardens and surromnding areas.

Tidied up amenity area on eastern entrance to Syon Park Gardens

Amenity area near the junction with Great West Road –  Late last week, spaces either side of the entrance to Syon Park Gardens were tended to by Hounslow Highways which involved plenty strimming and much mulching.  It is expected that this will help reduce further weed growth and improve the overall aesthetic appearance of the vegetation.

White Lodge and Conquest: committee date for free school planning application

The application for a free school on the sports grounds sites is now expected to be heard at Hounslow Council’s 1 October 2015 Planning Committee (7.30 pm in Lampton Conference Suite, no doubt).

The planning application for a free school will be considered on 1 October 2015

The planning application for a free school will be considered on 1 October 2015

Quite a short window for residents and planners to comment and consider feedback on the latest revised plans submitted late August (see planning notice here and documents here or here) and for a comprehensive report to be published.

As reported a couple of days ago, there will be an exhibition on the latest planning application revisions at the Osterley Park Hotel this Tuesday 8 September 2015 from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

Reading my invitation from Nishkam Trust’s public relations contractor, I was concerned to learn of suggestion that factually incorrect rumours have been circulating locally and sought explanation.  A copy of the e mail exchange and explanation can be found here.  I have forwarded this to Hounslow’s planners for information and comment.
