White Lodge and Conquest Clubs sites: another opportunity to see the free school proposal

Regular readers will recall how the former and defeated Conservative MP kept quiet about what she knew about the proposals to build a school on the sports grounds between Wood Lane and Syon Lane in Osterley and Spring Grove Ward.  Fortuately her cover was blown when the new owners trespassed onto public land to build a fence, see previous article here.

After the cat was let out of the bag and through pressure via this website and residents, the school’s promoters set up a hurried exhibition towards the end of May, prior to submitting a planning application.  A revised planning application was submitted on 25 August 2015 and comments on this are now being sought, see the notification here.

Now more openly supported by a public relations company, Nishkam Free School has been inviting Hounslow councillors and residents to another brief event at the Osterley Hotel on Tuesday 8 September 2015, a copy of my invitation can be seen here.

More information on the free school proposals can be found here and the website set up by residents without costly PR, Keep Osterley Green, can be found here.

Planning appeal on former telephone building behind Spencer Road turned down

A long running planning abuse case where a redundant telephone repeater station, with limited access, was turned into an illegal dwelling has ended with a win for long troubled residents and Hounslow’s planning enforcement.

The council served notice on the building owner mid October 2013 to stop the use of the building as a self contained residential unit; remove all kitchen and bathroom facilities, and installed gas piping and connections; remove all resultant debris (see report to Planning Enforcement Sub-Committee of 3.10.2013 here). Dudley House 4: Almost as you were – second planning application also now withdrawn

At the end of a month where a public meeting at St Marys Church Hall saw over 60 residents attend, a petition with 91 signatures and 32 letters objecting, the remaining planning application to dilute Dudley House’s status as a nursing home was, last week, withdrawn.

Dudley House, The Grove: after a month of exercising neighbours, both planning applications now binned

On the eve of Hounslow Council planners refusing the removal of a condition allowing Dudley House to only operate as a nursing home, Pearl Resources Limited’s agent advised the authority that they would, “withdraw the application and submit a Certificate for Lawful Use to confirm the use of the property as any type of care home”.

The ambition and future application to use Dudley House as any type of care home may raise new issues and planners have been asked that should one be submitted, residents and councilors are advised and allowed to comment prior to any decision made.

Hounslow’s Middle Saxon recognition restored

On the way back from a meeting of the Mortlake Crematorium Board during the spring, safe on the north bank, it was disappointing to see the removal of the county coat of arms from near the borough boundary (with Kew, Surrey) at Kew Bridge Road, Brentford, Middlesex.

A few enquiries did not yield any sensible or credible reason to this son of the county but am pleased to present a new one, just installed by Hounslow Highways.  Many thanks to all involved.
